Seasons Greetings Everybody!
Well it’s that festive time of year again. A time for giving, a time for thanks and a time to fall into a self-induced over-fed turkey coma. 2011 has been a busy year, to say the least, for Lightning Strike. From poster campaigns to a mini-convention circuit we’ve covered a lot of ground (not bad for just 5 months work eh?). But believe me when I say we haven’t even started.
In 2012 you folks can look forward to the release of our premier anthology magazine Lightning Strike Presents. This magazine will have something for everybody whether your tastes include fantasy, sci-fi, steampunk or historical epics (and that’s not even naming all the different types of genres included in the magazine). For all the latest developments on Lightning Strike Presents please keep your eye on this very website or checkout our Twitter and Facebook page.
Of course everything that Lightning Strike has done so far and plans to do in the future wouldn’t be possible without the support of so many local conventions and shops. On the behalf of everyone involved with Lightning Strike I wish to thank everyone involved with;
- Dublin City Toy and Comic Mart
- Dublin City Comics
- The Big Bang
- Sub City
Their advice and support has been much appreciated. Above all I wish to thank all of our fans who follow our Facebook and website updates regularly. They’re the real heroes of the story.
Heading into 2012 there’s a lot of talk about doom and gloom; cuts this, budget that blah, blah, blah. But if Lightning Strike has proved anything it is no matter how dire things may look as long as people are willing to band together and work towards a common goal, no matter how big or small that goal might be, progress can and will be made. As the saying goes;
“It is always better to light but one candle than to curse the darkness”.
Wishing you all the very best this Christmas,
Editor-In-Chief and Publisher.
Just a little update to let you all know that Lightning Strike Comics will be making an appearance at 2 conventions next year in the UK. On May 19th-20th we’ll be at Kapow! in London alongside the like of Mark Millar and Jonathan Ross. We’ll also be attending Hi-Ex, partially organized by our very own Richmond Clements and Vicky Stonebridge. So if you fancy coming along, or have any friends living in the UK attending, be sure to tell ’em to come by and have a look at ‘Lightning Strike Presents’ and Dublin City Comics table.
With that all out of the way, here’s another little taster for you. Here’s the first page (uncoloured) of Canon Law by James Looney and Robert Carey.
